Our Founder’s story
My name is Walde Boshoff, and I founded mSAnsi Respected because I believe respect still matters.
My journey hasn’t been a straight line. At 15, I wrote off my mother’s car driving drunk. In Grade 8, I was expelled from school after getting involved with drugs. For years after that, I chased the wrong things — partying, drinking, living without thinking deeply about the consequences — and I disappointed the people around me more than once.
I got sober on 13 November 2023. That date became the beginning of a new chapter. Through recovery, my faith, and finally taking responsibility for my own choices, I came to understand something simple but powerful: meaningful change begins with personal responsibility. Before we can expect better from our communities or our country, we have to be willing to expect better from ourselves.
That realization became the foundation of mSAnsi Respected.
This was never meant to be just another clothing brand. It was created as a movement that encourages South Africans to choose respect every day — respect for ourselves, respect for one another, and respect for our country.
Our message, “Different Roots. Same Soil.”, reflects what I believe makes South Africa so special. We come from different cultures, languages, traditions and life experiences, yet we all share the same home and the same responsibility to help shape its future. Our diversity is not something to overcome; it is one of our greatest strengths.
Every collection tells part of that story. We begin with Respect for 🇿🇦, followed by Voices for 🇿🇦, giving everyday South Africans the opportunity to share their stories through QR-linked content. As the movement grows, our vision extends beyond apparel to celebrating local craftsmanship, supporting rural entrepreneurs, creating sustainable products and investing back into communities through initiatives such as school renovations and school uniforms.
For me, success will never be measured only by the number of products we sell. It will be measured by the number of conversations we start, opportunities we create and lives we positively impact.
If wearing mSAnsi Respected reminds even one person to choose respect, to keep their word, to take responsibility, or to believe in South Africa a little more, then we are moving in the right direction.
This is more than what we wear.
